Gov. Greg Abbott Continues Advocacy For Educational Opportunity

Friday, March 24, 2023

On Tuesday, hundreds of Texans, led by Governor Greg Abbott, met at the state capital for "Parent Empowerment Day."

Abbott used his time at the rally to speak on educational freedom through the extension of private and charter school education to underserved communities.

There has been concern raised that educational freedom opportunities, such as school voucher programs, will negatively affect public school funding and teacher pay. Abbott said that is not the case.

"Just like charter schools did not defund the private schools," Abbott said. "Wherever school choice is used, public education improves."
